‘JUST A KID FROM CHICAGO’
‘JUST A KID FROM CHICAGO’
Originating from Chicago, IL Courtney Silas was born a charismatic and sharp-witted self-starter with a “Get Shit Done” approach to all aspects of life, but especially in the realm of television production.
Growing up living throughout the city and surrounding suburbs of Chicago, Courtney was always provided an outlet to explore her creativity through dance, music, even gymnastics... (Ok that was short lived - thanks mom). But when she stumbled into a camp for teen girls to create a documentary about Chicago’s west side Lawndale Christian Health Center, and happened to win first place... she was hooked on the entire process of film and television production from that moment forward.
Courtney received her education and graduated from North Carolina A&T State University with a B.S. in Journalism & Mass Communication, focused in Broadcast Production. There she worked in her school TV studio and developed her passion for creating stories and bringing people and resources together to reach a wider audience. AGGIE PRIDE!
Courtney’s entire life isn’t only about production though... Alongside her for the past 11 years of her career and journey has been her “Lack of Emotional Support Dog” Trixie. Courtney has been an animal lover since childhood and was a former assistant to her senior Zoology/Botany teacher in high school. Yes you needed to know that.
Trixie and Courtney currently reside in Los Angeles and enjoy hiking - when not breaking an ankle on a first date...; Eating... everything; and dog sitting/walking with their business ‘Trixie’s Fur Friends’!
